Asparagus Museum e Maastricht

On Monday, with cousin Leo, Ferry and his wife Thea we went for a 271 km drive to a village in Helmond that is famous for asparagus and mushrooms. We visited the asparagus museum, It was very unique and interesting. We had pancakes with spec (bacon) and coffee then of to Maastricht a beautiful town the most southerly point of Holland and borders with Belgium and Germany. The old city in Holland - Maastricht was the city where in 1992, the 12 members of the then European Community signed the Maastricht Treaty, thereby creating the European Union (EU).
Now it has become a pretty tourist city and has cobblestone streets with bars and restaurants. Its a good place to walk around. We all enjoyed Maastricht, then back to Helmond, along the way we stopped for dinner. I had an asparagus salad and Peter had a pork schnitzel, just lovely.
