Verona and Aida the opera

Verona is a very pretty Italian town, we were very happy to have chosen this place as part of our journey, Verona has been described as the gate way to Italy, its beauty is essentially two fold, firstly its rich in natural beauty with its river hills and mountainous back drop, secondly there is its architectural beauty of the city its self with the buildings and monuments and quaint little streets. We went to see Juliet's house where there is a statue of Juliet and her balcony where Romeo bequeathed his true love to her. I went and stood on the balcony to have my photo taken and to feel the passion that must have been there on that famous day. There is a story about the statue that if you place your hand upon her breast and "hope" that you to may find YOUR true love (but peter already has). Peter placed his hand on Juliet's right breast.
At night we went to the Arena which was full to its capacity. Its was so beautiful to see an opera in the Arena that is the regular setting for splendid operatic performances. I was so surprised that peter loved the opera, Aida - earlier that day we bought the book Aida - he read the book and he followed the whole book and was explaining to me what was going on in each act in each scene. It was excellent to watch an opera in such an original Arena, we have had such a wonderful last week in Europe.
